Two women, one with a broken arm, were airlifted from Lake Waikaremoana in the Bay of Plenty this morning.
The women, aged in their late 50s, were tramping near Lake Waikaremoana when one fell and broke her arm.
The other woman was a diabetic who was running out of insulin.
The pair were airlifted from Panekiri Hut, about 55km northwest of Wairoa, to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
An attempt to rescue the women yesterday was abandoned due to poor weather.
