A tramper has been rescued from the Tararuas after spending the night injured.
The female, aged in her 40s, was injured last night.
But with no cellphone coverage or Personal Locator Beacon, she and the group she was with had to wait at Mitre Flats Hut until this morning to send a member of their party to call for help.
After two hours of walking, a cell signal was found and the person was able to call 111.
Life Flight's Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the call, landing near the hut around 9am.
