A French tramper was airlifted out of Mt Richmond Forest Park, near Nelson, after falling some 10 metres off a mountain ridge.
The Nelson Marlbourough Rescue Helicopter was called to locate and winch out the injured 43-year-old from near Mt Rintoul in the park.
The man had been tramping the alpine route with friends when he stumbled and fell approximately eight to ten metres off a ridgeline - injuring his shoulder.
The injured Frenchman was treated at the scene, before he was winched on board the helicopter for transport to Nelson Hospital's emergency department.
