A tramper who was temporarily reported missing in Tararua Forest Park has made it out safely, police report.
The tramper failed to make contact when he planned to and as a result, he was reported missing about 10.30am.
However, the tramper walked out of the bush later than expected, a police spokeswoman said.
She said the experienced tramper walked himself out of the bush unscathed.
The man had left on the Tararua Track from Poads Rd and was walking all the way to Waikanae via Matawhai Hut, Nicholas Hut, Otaki Forks, Pukeatua Track, and Ngatiawa Rd.
Anyone who had seen him was asked to contact Wellington police on (04) 381 2000.
