A rescue helicopter has been sent to rescue a tramper injured on Mt Tongariro.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the Emerald Lakes, near the mountain's summit, about 1.30pm.
A St John spokeswoman said a rescue helicopter from Taupo landed at the scene about 2pm and was with the injured tramper.
Further information was not immediately available.
