KEY POINTS:
Police believe a tramper found dead last night may have been suffering from an pre-existing medical condition.
Robin Edward Boyde, 54, was found in the Spencer mountains near Greymouth last night about 9pm.
The man's wife, who was travelling with him, raised the alarm about 7pm and the Greymouth rescue helicopter was sent to recover the body.
A spokesman from Reefton police station said it was believed the man had a medical condition but a post mortem examination would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The man's identity was expected to be released later today after his family members had been advised.
