A woman who fell and cut her leg while tramping in the Tararua Ranges has been airlifted to Palmerston North hospital.
The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter took the 62-year-old woman from the Roaring Stag Hut on Friday morning after she cut her leg while tramping with a group of about five others.
A spokesman from the rescue team said the helicopter hovered above the ground while the patient was brought on board, as the helicopter was unable to land due to the terrain.
