Young Wairarapa horse trainer Aaron Bidlake got away to a perfect start at the Woodville races yesterday.
Bidlake has just shifted his stable from Opaki to Tauherenikau and his first runner from his new location, Elusive Tracy, won in a virtual canter yesterday.
Dropping back in class and on a track she could obviously handle, Elusive Tracy blitzed her rivals in race two, winning by nearly three lengths in the hands of apprentice Lisa Whelan.
Her win was a great tonic for Masterton owner Barry Southey who has not been in the best of health and watched the race on television at his home.
Mr Southey said the win had been a great thrill and paid a compliment to Bidlake. "I have two others with him, he's a good trainer."
