A train driver stopped traffic at a level crossing for 20 minutes while he went for a pie, it was claimed today.
Motorists at the crossing in Wanganui were stranded while the train sat on the tracks and the driver had his lunch at the nearby Big Bite cafe.
One woman had to pay a double taxi-fare for the time she spent in the queue.
Toll New Zealand said it was investigating and apologised for any inconvenience.
