A passengers train has collided with a car on the Kapiti Coast, north of Wellington tonight.
Police said the impact injured the vehicle's two occupants. The crash happened about 6.20pm near Te Horo.
"It looks like the car appears to have been clipped," a police spokesman said.
A KiwiRail spokesman said the train involved was still at the scene and would be delayed.
It was a Capital Connection service, running between Palmerston North and Wellington.
The spokesman said the crash happened on a private crossing not controlled through barrier arms or bells and was where a gravel road crossed the train tracks before joining State Highway One.
