A Northland woman who died after her husband accidentally backed a trailer into her, pushing her into the Northern Wairoa River, has been named by police.
Aratapu woman Lynley Jean Walker, 55, of Kaipara, died on Sunday morning after falling into the Northern Wairoa River on the couple's farm on Heawa Rd, Aratapu, about 10km south-east of Dargaville.
Her husband had dived into the river to retrieve her but was unsuccessful in reviving her. Inquiries into the woman's death are continuing but police say the woman's death was a "tragic accident".
