Several travellers escaped serious injury during two crashes in Wairarapa that left roads strewn with damaged vehicles yesterday.
Masterton traffic policing Constable Dana Johanson said four young young men were involved in a single car crash in Manuka St in the town after a rear wheel of their car clipped a kerb while travelling down the Lansdowne hill road soon after 12.30pm.
The 18-year-old driver over-corrected and lost control of the late model Nissan sedan, which ploughed through a high fence and came to rest straddling the roadside berm.
Ms Johanson said the driver had received minor leg injuries when he climbed from the damaged car and his three passengers had escaped injury.
