A major power outage in Auckland is now being restored after more than 2000 residents were without power in the inner-city suburbs.
Vector has reported that the unplanned power outage has mostly been restored in the Freemans Bay and Ponsonby areas, including Aotea Square, with a few houses still affected around Franklin Rd.
It said about 2300 customers were affected and many traffic lights were taken out by the outage.
A Vector spokesman said the interruption was caused by a power line coming down in the area.
He said a crew was on the way to fix it but had been held up due to a crash on the motorway.
