UPDATE: Auckland commuters may now have a free run into the city as earlier backlogs have cleared.
However, there are still some train delays and cancellations on the Southern and Eastern lines, following a line fault earlier this morning.
The Auckland Transport website indicates the accident has since been resolved, but traffic on the motorway networks remains heavy as the backlog is cleared.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area, or delay their travel.
