KEY POINTS:
Petrol-heads leaving the Hamilton 400 V8s this afternoon are expected to bring traffic to a standstill on roads out of the city.
The event has attracted crowds of more than 180 thousand people from across the country during its three days.
Inspector John Kelly is expecting the bulk of the traffic to be heading north, and is asking people to be patient and drive to the conditions.
Mr Kelly says roads in and around Hamilton will start becoming congested after about 5.30pm when the event finishes.
