Traffic cone on top of Sky Tower

An orange traffic cone appeared on top of the Auckland Sky Tower early today.

It's unclear how the cone got there or who is responsible but it appears to be a marketing stunt.

The cone has now been removed.

Some are suggesting it may be linked to radio station The Edge.

Sky Tower would not answer any questions but said they agreed to the placing of the cone.

nzherald.co.nz was referred to a public relations company which has not returned calls.

The stunt was a popular target for twitter users this morning.
