Rush hour traffic has ground to a halt in Auckland this evening after serious crashes on both the Southern and Northern Motorways and a major arterial road.
Two cars collided on Tamaki Drive near the Parnell Pool this afternoon, police said.
The road was closed to all traffic between The Strand and Ngapipi Road.
Meanwhile, the southbound and northbound lanes of Auckland's Southern and Northern motorways have reopened after separate crashes this afternoon.
A three-vehicle crash near Mt Wellington closed two of the three southbound lanes on the Southern Motorway, and a later crash near the Northcote Road interchange closed two of the three southbound lanes on the Northern Motorway, the NZ Transport Agency advised.
