There has been a second crash on the stretch of southern motorway this afternoon, where traffic is backed up from Manurewa to Manukau.
Inspector Shawn Rutene said the incident happened about 3.30pm, about 45 minutes after four vehicles crashed in the southbound lanes near the Hill Rd offramp.
"We've had the same old story, there's another one further down the line which we'll be clearing away as well."
The second crash was about 1km from the scene of the first.
"It's the same old thing , people not driving to conditions."
