Traffic has resumed to normal after two crashes that took place within five minutes of each other on either side of the State Highway 1 near Rolleston.
The incidents had caused serious traffic delays.
A two-car crash near Berketts Road in the north had resulted in bumper-to-bumper traffic and motorists were being advised to take a detour via Jones Road.
There was also a significant bottle neck near the site of a second crash on the south side of Rolleston at the intersection near Walkers Rd.
None of those involved were injured, said St Johns Control Centre Team Manager Alan McKay.
