A farmer scooped a woman into his tractor's loader bucket before dumping her on the road in a terrifying attack after a car crash.
Carl Randall Martin became so incensed after the woman crashed into a fence at his property that he drove into her six times.
He knocked her hat off with the tractor's bucket and, at one point, lowered the bucket on to her head.
Then he pinned his victim up against her vehicle before scooping her up in the bucket and tipping her on the gravel road.
The 51-year-old farmer from Wairamarama, south of Tuakau, will learn in the New Year whether he will go to prison after appearing in the Manukau District Court yesterday.
He was convicted of assault with a weapon at an earlier hearing after the August 5 attack.
The court heard that Martin arrived at the crash scene on his quad bike and told the woman she had two minutes to remove her car from a ditch it was stuck in or he would move it himself.
As she went to get help she heard the sound of the John Deere tractor being started.
The woman ran back and tried to defend her car as Martin drove towards it.
The woman received hand injuries in the attack. She is understood to be still traumatised.
Martin refused to make a statement when police interviewed him.
Sentencing was delayed yesterday after his lawyer, Richard Wood, asked for time to see transcripts from earlier appearances.
Judge Charles Blackie said the request was most unusual and if no further mitigating circumstances could be proved, the outcome for Martin was likely to be worse.
Martin was remanded on bail for sentencing on January 16.
