A young man died instantly after falling from the back of his employer's tractor in a street in the south Taranaki township of Manaia late yesterday morning.
John Peter Leatherby, 21, was somehow snagged by the left-hand wheel and dragged over it, Taranaki police said.
The two men on the tractor had apparently taken it into town to buy lunch and had detoured to visit a friend. The accident happened on their return.
