Toyota is chalking one up against the competition by using a Tundra to tow a space shuttle.
Tundra, a brawny 5.7L, V8-powered ute, will haul the shuttle Endeavour to its final resting place at the California Science Centre.
After the shuttle has travelled nearly 20km from Los Angeles Airport, the Toyota will cover the final 402m. The Tundra is rated for 4500kg maximum tow capacity, but the shuttle, which will go on permanent display at the centre, weighs 136,000kg.
Toyota says "extensive testing" took place before the PR stunt was disclosed.
