Two young German tourists were bruised and cut when they were attacked and robbed by possibly three attackers in the Bay of Islands town of Paihia in Northland early today.
The men, aged 19 and 23, lost their passports, cash, German driver's licences, and other personal items in the attack.
They had medical treatment but police said their injuries were not serious.
Police want anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious activity in the School Rd area of Paihia between 3am and 4am today to call the Kaikohe police.
