KEY POINTS:
The body of a 58 year-old has been found in a Christchurch city motel this morning.
Inspector Warren Kemp said the man was an Australian citizen and had been in Christchurch for eight days.
He said the man was due to return to Sydney today.
Mr Kemp said the death had been referred to the coroner.
