A teenage German tourist has today admitted careless driving after a crash on the West Coast caused by his driving on the wrong side of the road.
Moritz Horsch stopped to take a photo 15 kilometres north of Greymouth, heading towards Punakaiki.
A police statement said when he returned to the highway he reverted to European style driving, crashing head on with a 77-year-old woman driving in the opposite direction.
She suffered three broken ribs.
He has been remanded on bail for a reparations report until April 20th.
