KEY POINTS:
English tourist David Alexander MacCallum, the driver of a campervan involved in a fatal accident on Good Friday, has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death and six counts of careless driving causing injury.
MacCallum, 23, appeared in Blenheim District Court today and was remanded on bail until April 23.
Adam James Birdsey, 23, a travelling companion of the accused, was killed as the campervan collided with a four-wheel-drive at the open road intersection of Jacksons and Middle Renwick Rds on April 6.
The five English tourists travelling in the campervan were nearing the end of the South Island leg of their holiday.
A Christchurch family of three travelling in the other vehicle were also injured, and locals had to rescue them when the four-wheel-drive was engulfed in flames.
