A Swedish woman who died after getting into trouble while swimming with dolphins near Kaikoura at the weekend has been named.
She was Anita Engman, 56, who was on holiday with her husband and several other Swedes, police told the Marlborough Express.
Constable Dean Schroder, of Kaikoura police, said Mrs Engman was not injured by a dolphin but it was still not clear what had happened. However, she had inhaled a lot of water.
A post mortem was being conducted today but Mrs Engman's death was not suspicious, Mr Schroder said.
