Tourist killed in collision with truck

A 19-year-old German woman who was on a cycling holiday in New Zealand has died after a collision with a truck in Manawatu today.

The accident happened just before midday on State Highway 3, 4km north of Bulls, Sergeant Marc Clausen of police central communications said.

The woman died at the scene. The truck driver was shaken by the incident but not hurt.

Interpol were arranging for her family in Germany to be advised of her death.

Mr Clausen said crash investigators were at the scene, but the road had been kept open.
