A Taiwanese tourist in Queenstown died after being hit by a bus last night, police say.
The 48-year-old woman was struck on Fernhill Road, between the One Mile Delta roundabout and Sainsbury Road, about 9.30pm.
She was taken to Lakes District Hospital but died a short time later.
The woman had been visiting Queenstown with her husband and two adult children.
Her name would be released after her family in Taiwan had been notified, police said.
The bus was part of the local Connectabus fleet and was travelling on its normal route.
Police said the serious crash unit was investigating today, and it was not yet known whether charges would be laid.
