A 23-year-old English tourist charged with careless driving causing death was remanded without plea when he appeared in Blenheim District Court today.
Alexander MacCallum, a trainer of North Nibley in Gloucestershire, appeared before two Justices of the Peace as the result of a crash which killed Adam James Birdsey, 23.
Mr Birdsey was one of five English tourists in a campervan which collided with a Toyota Hilux Surf on Friday morning on the outskirts of Blenheim.
MacCallum is to reappear on April 16, when he will face further charges of causing injury to Dean Jonathon Clark, Barbara June Craig, Bruce Alexander Craig, Jordan William Craig, Samuel Paul Barber and Ian James Mills.
The Craigs were in the Toyota.
Bail was unopposed, with two conditions, that he surrender his passport to police and that he reside in Blenheim at an address to be provided to the Blenheim police.
