KEY POINTS:
Three teenagers have appeared in court today charged with assaulting an English man in Hawke's Bay.
Darrin Wright, Hamish Bowman and Joshua McConville, all aged 17, have appeared in Napier District Court today.
They allegedly attacked a 30-year-old English tourist on Gloucester St in Taradale just before 1am.
The attack was so vicious, boot marks were left on the victim's head and face.
The man remains in a coma in a critical condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Police have not released his name because they still need to notify his family.
