Tostee bail application decided today

Accused killer Gable Tostee is expected to find out today whether he will be granted bail.

Tostee's defence team have suggested their client would keep away from alcohol and dating sites if granted bail, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

The defence also argued Tostee was now so recognisable, he was very unlikely to flee if granted bail.

Tostee, 28, was arrested and charged with murder in August after Lower Hutt woman Warriena Wright fell 14 floors to her death from his Surfers Paradise apartment.

The pair met through the Tinder dating application while Ms Wright, 26, was in Australia for a wedding. Tostee has maintained his innocence.

He has been remanded in custody since his arrest.

At the bail hearing in the Supreme Court at Brisbane yesterday, defence lawyer Soraya Ryan reportedly said Tostee would live with his parents and be subject to a 6am to 6pm curfew.

Public prosecutor Ben Power said Tostee had deprived Ms Wright of her liberty when locking her out on his balcony on the 14th floor of the Avalon Apartments, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Justice Debra Mullins yesterday reserved her decision until 9.15am local time today (12.15pm NZT).
