KEY POINTS:
A mini tornado has reportedly ripped through the Christchurch suburb of Parklands.
Trees were knocked over and fences ripped down on Queenspark Drive about 3pm by the suspected twister, The Press newspaper reported today.
One eyewitness said he heard a loud noise and thought the walls of his house would be blown in.
No one was hurt but there were numerous examples of damage.
However, Christchurch Fire Service communications told NZPA they had not received any reports of damage this afternoon.
Resident Jacky Gower says she was in a chemist shop when she looked up and saw the mini tornado heading her way.
She says about six properties in the area were damaged.
She is waiting to have her home's roof checked over for safety and stability.
Niwa in Christchurch was not immediately able to confirm any tornado.
