KEY POINTS:
Conditions are looking good for tonight's Christmas in the Park in Auckland.
The latest forecast from the Weather Watch Centre says today will be a partly fine day with a few clouds passing.
Winds this evening will be light and drifting in from the south'east and a few cloudy periods are likely.
The temperature in Auckland Central is likely to be around 16 or 17 degrees this evening but that breeze may make it feel just a little cooler, so best to pack a jersey or jacket.
Head Weather Analyst Philip Duncan says there is just a 10 per cent chance of a shower tonight. "That basically means there may be an isolated shower somewhere within the entire Auckland region - but we doubt there'll be any in the city centre."
An extra large moon will also help to brighten conditions for concert-goers after dark tonight.
The biggest full moon of 2008 moved over our skies last night due to it passing closer to earth as part of its natural cycle.
"Although we have a full moon every month this one 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent larger than other full moons seen this year.
"Some people claim to sleep terribly during full moons - and animals have been known to be restless", said Duncan.
