American Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides will visit New Zealand this coming week, accompanied by a high-powered delegation of White House and Defense officials.
The US Embassy issued a statement this morning confirming reports of his visit.
While in Auckland, Deputy Secretary Nides is expected to meet with Government ministers including foreign affairs minister Murray McCully, and representatives of other Pacific nations.
He will return to Washington DC on Friday.
