Lansdowne will go into the semi-finals of the Wairarapa Cricket Association's Umpires Cup limited-overs competition as top seeds.
They finished the preliminary rounds with 32 points, eight clear of Greytown. Then came Red Star 20, Wairarapa College 18, Rathkeale College 14 and Academy 12.
The semis on March 11 will therefore see Lansdowne up against Wairarapa College and Greytown playing Red Star with the two winners going forward to the grand final.
Meanwhile matches in the Bidwell Cup two-day senior competition will continue this weekend with the most interesting fixture being that between Greytown and Rathkeale
The latter were clear cut winners over Red Star in the latest series of games with their Wairarapa representatives Doug Bracewell, Andy Dodd and Simon Clinton-Baker leading the way.
It will be essential that this trio click again if they are to test a Greytown side which has an experienced combination well suited to the demands of the two-day game.
The challenge for Wairarapa College in their match with Lansdowne will be to snare the wickets of in-form top order batsmen Henry Cameron and Sam Curtis early in proceedings.
These two have been in dominant form lately and if they cut loose again then Wairarapa College will be in dire straits.
Red Star and Academy should have a close battle with Stars looking for a much improved fielding effort than they displayed against Rathkeale when several catching opportunities were wasted. For Red Star a victory would be timely as they are in the throes of preparing for their 75th jubilee which will be held in Masterton on February 24 and 25.
Registration details can be gained from club stalwarts Trevor Martin or Mark Elliott.
