KEY POINTS:
Eight students were awarded the Premier Award and will receive $10,000 a year for three years for their results in the 2007 Scholarship examinations.
Results were sent yesterday to more than 8000 students who sat the exams. The top scholars will receive a monetary award, ranging from a one-off $500 payment to the Premier Award. The Premier Award is reserved for the top five to 10 students in the country.
"This year, eight students stood out in the rankings, and were obvious and well-deserving winners," said advisory group chairman Professor Gary Hawke.
The winners will be announced publicly at a ceremony in May at Government House in Wellington.
