KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's acting High Commissioner to Fiji Caroline McDonald is likely to be kicked out of the country today, according to a media report.
Fijilive internet news service said that self-appointed Prime Minister Voreqe (Frank) Bainimarama had confirmed that Ms McDonald would be expelled today.
Commodore Bainimarama told Fijilive that his Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand "knows the exact time when she is to be sent".
But Chand said he has no information on this.
The threat to ban Ms McDonald stems from New Zealand's visa ban on members of the Fiji military and government and their families.
The interim government has threatened to send Ms McDonald home unless New Zealand grants a visa to the son of Rupeni Nacewa, principal secretary to President Josefa Iloilo, so he can resume his studies in New Zealand.
Bu the New Zealand Government has told Fiji it has no intention of lifting the travel ban.
George Nacewa previously studied in New Zealand, but is banned from entering the country under the Government's post-coup ban on visas for top members of the ruling military and their families.
The previous High Commissioner, Michael Green, was expelled in June 2007 and the latest move is being seen as a sign of a further deterioration in the relationship between the two countries.
