Two of New Zealand's brightest musical stars have Come Together to record a charity single.
Boh Runga and Che Fu will today record a cover of the Beatles hit for the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre, which delivers music therapy to children with special needs.
"It's a great song," says Runga, a patron of the charity. "It has fantastic lyrics, is a really recognisable song and I think we'll do a good version. And it'll be fun to sing."
The song will be released in CD and digital forms before Christmas. York Street studios are donating recording time and Karl Stevens, Che Fu's former Supergroove bandmate, will produce the single.
Runga has been involved with Raukatauri since it opened in 2004 but has never recorded a song for the charity before.
The musicians are also looking forward to jamming together properly for the first time: "We performed together once or twice ages ago," says Che Fu. "I jumped up impromptu when Boh was on."
Runga returns to her LA home tomorrow but will perform with Che Fu again in May on the More FM Winery Tour.
