KEY POINTS:
Leading jockey Michael Walker is in a very serious condition after a hunting accident today.
Taranaki DHB Ambulance Service Manager Ian May says Mr Walker fell down a five metre bluff while pig hunting with two mates yesterday afternoon at Okau.
Walker, who in December completed the fastest 100 winners in a season at Ellerslie, was this morning airlifted from a remote area of bush in the King Country, to Taranaki Base Hospital.
Walker's injuries are unknown. One of his friends walked out of the bush to raise the alarm early today, the Waikato Times newspaper said.
Walker has ridden 173 winners this season, more than any other jockey.
