Regulators are considering whether to stop pharmacies and other shops selling over-the-counter tooth-whitening products which release more than 3.6 per cent hydrogen peroxide.
The Environmental Risk Management Authority has been asked to examine whether such sales should be only be "under the direction of a qualified dentist".
