KEY POINTS:
Damian Max, of Birkenhead, on Auckland's North Shore, will be the Kiwi representative at the Australia/New Zealand final of the Irwin Industrial Tools Ultimate Tradesman Challenge at the Bathurst 1000 in October. The 28-year-old beat more than 200 competitors to win the New Zealand leg at last month's Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar event.

The Australasian champion will win a trip to America for the world finals in November and the chance to win US$1.26 million ($1.62m).
Get to the drawing board Budding designers from around the world have another chance to create a futuristic concept car with the launch of this year's Peugeot Design Competition. It centres on the theme "keeping with tomorrow's cities".
