The clean up of Christchurch's streets following the September 4 quake continues, with the focus over the last 48-hours on the Sydenham shops and Riccarton area.
Around 100 tonnes of rubble was removed from Colombo Street last night and this morning, with decorative block work collected by hand, placed on pellets, shrink-wrapped and labelled for owners to collect and reuse at a later date.
The Christchurch City Council is now focusing on Tennyson and Colombo Streets with further rubble from these areas being removed today.
Rubble outside 441 Colombo St has also been cleared, and cordons around Threw the Keyhole at 276 -278 Colombo St have been withdrawn and traffic flows have been restored to normal.
