Irritable Tongans have finally convinced their king to give up on daylight-saving, introduced to ensure the kingdom was the first nation into the new millennium.
In 1999 and 2000, Tonga advanced its clocks an hour to put it 14 hours ahead of GMT, a decision that came after King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV discovered the Chatham Islands and Millennium Island in Kiribati would make it into the 21st century before Tonga.
