KEY POINTS:
A man is to appear in Tokoroa District Court today after he allegedly charged a group of people while brandishing a chainsaw early this morning.
The 28-year-old has been charged with assault with a weapon and threatening to kill.
The group escaped relatively unscathed with one woman receiving a small chainsaw cut to her foot which did not need stitches.
Police are asking for witnesses to contact them, including anyone who was woken by the sounds of shouting and a chainsaw being started around 1.30am.
