Tokoroa police are appealing for help in relation to a serious assault on a local couple.
The couple in their late 20s were ambushed while walking home from a party at about 11:00pm yesterday.
The woman managed to escape to a nearby hospital, but her partner was found unconscious by a witness who took him to hospital.
The man has since been flown to Waikato Hospital where he remains in a critical condition with serious head injuries, including a broken arm and leg.
Police are asking for the witness who helped out, or anyone else with any information, to get in touch.
