KEY POINTS:
It has been revealed a Christchurch toddler was set on fire by a stray fireworks rocket last weekend.
Vicky Tranter said that on Saturday night the family let off fireworks from a Boom Box purchased from the Warehouse in a park near their home in Bishopdale.
She said her daughter was about 40 metres away when the firework, called a Heat Wave, malfunctioned and burst into a fire ball.
They fired off about five fireworks which were fine but the sixth one shot straight into her daughter's pram.
Her baby has third degree burns to her face, neck and chest. Doctors told her a woolen singlet saved the child from more severe burns.
