An investigation is under way after an 18-month-old child was run over and fatally injured in Wairoa yesterday afternoon.
Police say the toddler, who was hit by a car in a street about 5.30pm, was taken to Wairoa Hospital but died soon after.
Next of kin were still being contacted last night so no further details about the child's identity were available.
