KEY POINTS:
A toddler run over in the driveway of his Hamilton home on Wednesday was hit by a neighbour.
The boy, in critical condition in Auckland's Starship Hospital, was run over as a neighbour reversed down the shared driveway, the Waikato Times reported today.
Sergeant Paul Slater told the paper the woman driver was travelling slowly and was unlikely to face charges.
Child, Youth and family are looking into the incident.
"It was unclear who was looking after the boy at the time," Mr Slater said.
The baby's grandmother appeared shortly after the child was struck.
St John Ambulance advanced paramedic Ray Bestwick said the baby suffered serious multiple chest injuries.
