A toddler found wandering on State Highway 2 north of Upper Hutt early today is back with his parents.
The two-year-old boy, dressed in pyjamas with black gumboots was found on SH2 at Maoribank about 6.30am and was reunited with his parents shortly before 11am, Upper Hutt Sergeant Gordon Russell told NZPA.
"He had been staying with a family member for the night and has woken up and decided to go for a walk," Mr Russell said.
"He appeared alright. Couldn't give us his name or where he lived so that made things a bit difficult."
Mr Russell said police were not investigating the incident any further.
